August Alsina Dedicates Debut Album ‘Testimony’ To His Brother

August Alsina In Your Hood

August Alsina is looking forward to another big year, as he has confirmed the release date for his much-anticipated debut album, Testimony, due in stores on April 15.

The selected date for August’s upcoming album has significance though, as it is the date of birth of his older brother Melvin LaBranch III, who was murdered in New Orleans in 2010. However, this will not be the first time that August has used his brother’s birthday to debut a project, his first official mixtape ‘The Product’ was also released on April 15 in 2012.

Proceeded by the newly released single “Make It Home” featuring Jeezy, Testimony, which is dedicated to his brother’s memory, will cover personal hardships and “serious family issues including death, homelessness and addiction.”

“I struggle with how much of myself to give to the people,” Alsina said. “How much I want my personal business to be judged. I think the EP struck a good balance of who I am and what I’ve been through, but that was just the beginning. Nothing is held back on Testimony.  When people hear my story, and see that I came from nothing, they’ll see that it’s possible for them too.”

So far the album will have features from rappers Yo Gotti, Young Jeezy, and B.O.B with frequent collaboration with producers Knucklehead, Eric Hudson, Drumma Boy, Jasper Cameron, the Exclusives and Cassius Jay.

Leading up to the release of the album, August will join 2Chainz on the “2 Good To Be T.R.U” national tour, which will kick off on February 4 in Boston and finish on March 24 in Washington D.C.

It seem so very intresting that someone from Atlanta another singer and songwriter overcame such great hardships and is able to pen it on pad and paper. The album is a must listen.
