The Grammy Awards once again ignored all the R&B categories during the live show, no surprise, but we really need to see something change soon! It’s also not much of a surprise which artists ended up taking home the R&B awards this year. Some we can agree with, others not so much. The system is pretty flawed, it always has been, and all we can hope is one day the committee will find a better way to get the right people to vote for the categories they know best, and keep it dedicated.

Alicia Keys took home the big award, winning ‘Best R&B Album’ for her 2012 release Girl On Fire. Rihanna landed another Grammy, winning ‘Best Urban Contemporary Album’ for Unapologetic. Justin Timberlake won ‘Best R&B Song’ for his 20/20 Experience album cut “Pusher Love Girl.”

Blues singer/musician Gary Clark Jr. took home the ‘Best Traditional R&B Performance’ Grammy for his song “Please Come Home,” while indie singer Lalah Hathaway and New York-based fusion band Snarky Puppy won ‘Best R&B Performance’ for their song “Something.”

As for the rest of the big awards Daft Punk and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis took home the majority. See the rest of the winners below!
