Yesterday, saw the release of the first portion of R. Kelly‘s recent sit-down CRWN interview with Elliot Wilson. While he is heavily promoting his new album Black Panties, the candid interview finds the R&B veteran covering a timeline of his career, sharing little gems and shining light on certain questions many fans have wondered over the years.

In the second portion, Kellz continues to talk about his past work, starting with the original plans for ‘The Best of Both Worlds,’ which he was originally working on with 2Pac. He spoke briefly about the creation of tracks such as the “Ignition (Remix),” “Step In The Name of Love,” and finding out he could have an audience in different generations of music fans.

Moving on to “Trapped In The Closet,” which he credits to previously learning opera, he tries to explain his creative process behind it and how the style of the songs came about. He addressed the impact of the church and god in his music, and explained what he wants his legacy to be today.

R. Kelly has a lot of new music on the way as well, he tells the crowd he is 6 songs into his holiday album ’12 Nights of Christmas,’ which he is planning to release next year, and he also reveals he is 6 songs into a country music album.
