Last month, Elle Varner graced the stage of the ASCAP ‘Rhythm and Soul Music Awards’ and performed her single “Refill.” Following the special night, the singer/songwriter sat down with Peter Bailey of ‘Nightcap’ for an exclusive in-studio interview.  Nearly a month later, the interview has been released, and Elle shares some interesting details about her anticipated forthcoming sophomore album.

During her candid chat, Elle revealed that she has created a new sound on her album, which she coined as ‘Trap Jazz,’ and it is crazy.  Fans will have to wait for the album though to truly understand what she is describing.  Additionally, she announced the working title for the LP is a collection of symbols such as ‘#$@%’ followed by a * and ‘Four Letter Word.’  She excitingly described the idea as the symbols could be many four letter words, and that it can be a reflection of the many styles, sounds and influences that define the work.

“It could be Elle, it could be Damn, it could be Dope, it could be Soul, it could be Love,” she explained. “That pretty much embodies the album and where I’m at as an artist, you can’t actually put one word on it, and it’s open to interpretation.”

She also touched on dating NBA basketball player Iman Shumpert, and how it has influenced her new music. Elle revealed she recently penned a song titled “A Good Man,” which ‘might’ have been inspired by him.
