Wow, this is the tour to be at! Following confirmation that D’Angelo would be supporting her upcoming Summer trek, Mary J. Blige has now announced Melanie Fiona will also be a supporting act on the “Liberation” Tour.
The nationwide trek kicks off August 18 in Virginia Beach and travels to Boston, Philadelphia, Miami, and Houston. It marks the first U.S. tour in over a decade for the reclusive D’Angelo, who toured briefly in Europe earlier this year and made high-profile appearances at the BET Awards and ESSENCE Music Festival this month.
“I felt like it would be refreshing and fun for people to see him and Mary J. Blige on the road together,” Blige told Rolling Stone.
So far, eight dates have been announced, but Blige said to expect up to 20. Tickets are on sale now at Ticketmaster.
