Mary J. Blige, Tank & Ledisi Rock ESSENCE Festival (Day 2)

As if day 1 of the 2012 ESSENCE Music Festival wasn’t just about as good as it gets, Saturday night’s show highlighted and delivered what we all love and yearn for from our R&B artists and vocal powerhouses. Day 2 at the Superdome was a brilliant mix of talent between music and comedy, R&B heartthrob Tank open the show, the singer-songwriter even brought out Tyrese who sent the ladies into a further frenzy. Mary Mary brought everyone to their feet, singing along to the duo’s classic worship anthems, Ledisi tore it down as always and Mary J. Blige nearly lit the arena on fire.

Marsha Ambrosius Debuts New Song “Friends & Lovers”

Marsha Ambrosius was one of the featured performers at the McDonalds Superlounge Friday night during this weekends ESSENCE Music Festival. The UK songstress who recently announced the title of her anticipated sophomore album took the opportunity to debut the title track “Friends & Lovers.”

Marsha previously talked to ESSENCE about the upcoming album saying, “The first time around it was me showing and proving that I had a lane and an avenue to cover. But this album, I definitely had to live it to write it.” The LP is expected to be released this November.

The 2012 ESSENCE Music Festival is in full swing, one of R&B and Soul Music’s biggest events each year, and it has already proven to be one of the most exciting and brightest showings. With the main concert kicking off this past Friday night featuring performances from Trey Songz, Keyshia Cole, the much-anticipated set by D’Angelo and Charlie Wilson, ESSENCE described and accounted the show’s opening night live from the Superdome in New Orleans.
