NEWS: BRANDY ANNOUNCES ALBUM TITLE & RELEASE DATE

By

Friday night Brandy returned to the stage with a performance at the Factory club in Los Angeles. The R&B diva made a big announcement, that she followed up with on Twitter, telling fans the official title of her anticipated new album and expected release date!

Brandy’s sixth studio album and first on RCA/Chameleon will be titled “Two Eleven” and is scheduled to be released this coming June. The title represents her birthday and also the day that Brandy’s mentor and friend Whitney Houston passed away. She dedicated her 2008 single “Right Here (Departed)” to her during last night’s performance.

Brandy has been working with a slew of all-star artists and producers for the LP, speaking specifically about working with Drake, “I haven’t recorded it yet but I’m looking forward to it because it’s such a great melody and the beat is nice. It’s a vibe that I haven’t dipped into and I think the fans would get a kick out of hearing my voice over a record like that,” Brandy says of a record Drake sent her way recently. “I’m not sure if Drake’s going to be on it but I’m a huge fan of his. His melodies are beautiful, I like the way I sound in the shower singing his songs.”

In addition to Drake, the singer/actress has already worked with Frank Ocean on a song called “Scared of Beautiful,” which is about women who are afraid to be beautiful in their full potential as women, she said, “I’ve been there before so I know a lot of women can relate.”

Her list of collaborators also includes Chris Brown, Danja, Jim Jonsin, Timbaland, Sean Garrett and longtime friend/collaborator Rodney Jerkins.

Speaking with Rolling Stone she stated, “I’m reinventing myself and I feel fearless, I haven’t done R&B in a very long time. This album is rooted in R&B. The sound is different, it’s about love. It’s mature, it’s gritty, it’s edgy.”

In related news, the music video for her new duet with Monica, “It All Belongs To Me,” will premiere on Monday, March 5th.
