NEW MUSIC: BOBBY WOMACK – PLEASE FORGIVE MY HEART

By

Well, somehow we missed this release from earlier in the month. But, if you haven’t heard it yet, you will likely be as surprised as we were. Late ’60s/early ’70s soul legend, Bobby Womack, has many gritty classics to his name. In the past few years, he’s shown up randomly on tracks from the Gorillaz’ Plastic Beach and The Fall. But, now Womack is about to return with a new solo album called The Bravest Man In The Universe, his first studio effort since a 2000 Christmas album. Gorillaz leader Damon Albarn and XL Records boss Richard Russell are both serving as producers, and the first single “Please Forgive My Heart,” is a shocking reinvention for Womack. The sparse production, fueled by soft keys and drum & bass feel to the percussion and synths provides a futuristic soul. One that you would certainly not expect from a veteran. Take a listen below, and stay tuned for the release of his full length album The Bravest Man In The Universe on June 12 via XL Recordings.
