Rising star Luke James stopped by BET 106 & Park on Tuesday for an interview prior to this headlining show at SOB’s Wednesday night. The Grammy nominated singer/songwriter shared details about his first job (singing at a fudge shop), how he handled his much buzzed about BET Honors performance, touring for Music Matters with Estelle, Elle Varner and Stacy Barthe and of course he showed off that impeccable falsetto.

The controversy that has surrounded Chris Brown and Rihanna’s musical reunion, on the third anniversary of his Grammy-eve assault on her in 2009, no less, has brought about no shortage of judgment, argument, commentary and not least confusion.
Perhaps strangest of all is the fact that the duo essentially announced their reconciliation by guesting on remixes of each other’s songs. The remix of Brown’s current single, “Turn Up The Music,” features Rihanna; and a remix of “Birthday Cake,” from her current album Talk That Talk, features him.
The specifics of their relationship and the emotions that the reunion have aroused are far beyond the purview of this article, but suffice it to say that the controversy does not seem to have hampered either song’s performance at radio – if anything, the opposite has taken place.

Rahsaan Patterson is the new celebrity ambassador for RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network), the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization. To kick off his partnership with RAINN, the soul innovator has recorded an original song titled “Don’t Touch Me,” that will be used to raise money for the non-profit organization.
“I was sexually assaulted when I was 6-years-old and wasn’t able to share it with my family until I was 18-years-old. Looking back on it, I wish there was an organization like RAINN that I could have turned to for help with dealing with what happened to me,” said Patterson. “After 30 years I finally have an appreciation and love for myself that has been missing for most of my life. The most important thing for me at this point is to be able to communicate through music and art and help others. What happened was extremely traumatic and will forever be embedded in my mind and in my life. It’s nothing I can avoid so it’s really about accepting it, owning it and knowing that it’s happened but it doesn’t have to represent who I am for the rest of my life.”

Usher’s team have revealed the official artwork for his brand new buzz single, “Climax.” The seductive, electro-soul track, which was leaked out on Valentines Day by hit-making producer Diplo, hits digital retailers today. It was written by Ariel Rechtshaid and Redd Stylez. The song is expected to appear on the R&B heartthrob’s as-yet-untitled seventh album, due later this year on RCA Records.
