AL GREEN SINGS A TERRIFIC TUNE FOR PRESIDENT OBAMA

“He nailed it!” exclaimed R&B great, Al Green. This is in response to the footage of President Obama belting out a snippet of Green’s classic, “Let’s Stay Together” going viral last week. On Thursday, Obama delivered a promised impromptu performance at the Harlem Apollo Theater during a NYC fundraiser. The soul legend went on to add, “I was thrilled that the President even mentioned my name.” Going on a light-hearted political tip he added, “and if the President can get the economy going again and get everything going that he wants to, then we’ll all be together.” Catch the famous crooning of our President after the jump!

ASHANTI PERFORMS NEW SINGLE “THE WOMAN YOU LOVE” LIVE

Ashanti is making her comeback to the musical landscape with her well-received single “The Woman You Love.” The songstress visited several Atlanta radio stations on Friday, and graced the stage at Tom Joyner’s “Sky Show” to celebrate the release of George Lucas’ film Red Tails. In addition to her classics, she performed the new Busta Rhymes-assisted single live for a crowd of fellow celebrities, artists and industry heads.

“I have a new record out right now. It’s called ‘The Woman You Love,’” Ashanti told the crowd, which included T.I. and Tiny. “And I know we’ve all been in a situation where we just tryna do everything, tryna be the perfect person—whether you’re a male or female—you just want that person to love you.”

Check out the video premiere of up and coming young singer, Kayla Brianna’s debut single “If You Love Me.” Kayla, the daughter of basketball legend and NBA commentator Kenny Smith, hopes that her music will speak to young girls around the world who are transitioning to adulthood. “It’s about growing up, succeeding, experiencing heartbreak and self-identity simultaneously,” says Kayla. “When you add those messages to undeniable tracks, it becomes a message that you can move to!”

BEYONCE REMEMBERS ETTA JAMES (ISSUES STATEMENT)

Etta James inspired a generation of vocalists. One of her more famous fans, Beyoncé, has issued a statement following the passing of the blues legend. Beyoncé portrayed James in the 2008 film Cadillac Records, for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe, and covered her classic “At Last.”
