THISISRNB PRESENTS: RHYTHM & BLUES – ANTHONY HAMILTON “WOO”

ThisisRnB TV presents the new visual series, “Rhythm & Blues.” The idea behind this segment is for artists to focus on and share details about their latest single, or a specific favorite song, and really discuss the background of the record, from the early stages of the production, to the thoughts and feelings behind the lyrics, and then the final product.

In this edition of ThisisRnB Presents: Rhythm & Blues, Anthony Hamilton breaks down his hot new single “Woo,” produced by Babyface. The soul-man talks about the initial production to the writing and thoughts behind the lyrics. See what Anthony told us now!

R. Kelly is set to return in 2012 with his album Black Panties, which he describes as “the new 12 Play.” While we wait for the next chapter in Kellz’ career, two previously unreleased tracks, “Nothing On” and “I Quit You,” have hit the net. On the sexy slow jam “Nothing On,” the Pied Piper sings about seeing his girl naked (no G-strings, please), while “I Quit You” is a female demo. We’ll take what we can get. Take a listen below…

THISISRNB’s TOP 10 SOUL ALBUMS OF 2011

It felt like 2011′s theme was ‘what is and what isn’t R&B,’ and what can we consider to label under these two letters. This discussion seemed to be happening every month, but it really fit under a much larger discussion of genre blending, mashing, mixing, and why we are forced to choose industry bred classifications in this era.  When attempting to begin the reviewing and discussions of what were the years top or best albums, we decided to stick to the basics and separate it into two lists -  “R&B” for the mainstream/commercial releases and “Soul” for well Soul/Neo-Soul and Urban AC releases. After the break is our “Top 10 Soul Albums of 2011.” As with all our lists, these are our personal opinions, not meant to be taken as end all be all.  So, take a look at the list below, and let us know your opinions and your choices.

KERI HILSON IS ONLY LOOKING FOR REAL ‘ REAL LOVE

“I want something real. I want real love. I don’t want this red carpet Hollywood love. I feel like they’re easily penetrated and that’s something that I don’t want. I don’t want publicity. I want love.” On her hit album, No Boys Allowed, Keri Hilson sent a clear message to rappers and athletes that she just wasn’t interested in the superficial games they offer. And while she’ll never say “never,” the message still rings true and blunt for Hilson.

Keri’s also blunt about not mixing business with pleasure. “My business is pleasure: being in the studio, writing, performing, being on stage, traveling. My business is pleasure and that’s the only I mix of business with pleasure. Other than that, if you [are] talking about men … nope … never have, probably never will.”
