NEW MUSIC: AUSTIN BROWN – MIDNIGHT MAN

New music from exciting rising artist – Austin Brown, we’ll take it! After his introduction/teaser video, and a random performance on Lopez Tonight, we haven’t heard much from Austin Brown yet, but we are waiting. If you aren’t familiar, Austin is the son of Rebbie Jackson, and MJ’s nephew. The new song titled “Midnight Man,” which surfaced over the weekend, is a very 80′s inspired, funky, uptempo, catchy track. Austin’s upcoming album “85,” due in 2012, carries the title for a couple reasons. Brown said 85 represents the year he was born, but also pays tribute to the sounds that helped make him the artist he is today. “Midnight Man” gives fans a chance to hear the music he’s generating and offers them an inside look at the styles that inspire him.

Check it out, and stay tuned!

SUNDAY SOUL: SPREAD LOVE WITH MICHAEL ORR

This week in Sunday Monday Soul, I bring to you Michael Orr; NO. Not the football player but the 70′s soul singer. The record I present is off of his “Spread Love” LP which was originally released in 1976 on the Detroit based Sunstar label. Largely ignored when it was first issued, which made this a true gem. Inspired by the musical vision of Quincy Jones, Michael Orr and bass player Carey Harris assembled a cast of musicians and vocalists to create a timeless masterpiece.

What else is there? Well you’ll just have to see after the break.
