THISISRNB PRESENTS: RHYTHM & BLUES – MATEO “SAY IT’S SO”

This is the first episode in our new visual series entitled “Rhythm & Blues.” The idea behind the segment is for artists to focus on and share details about their latest single, or a specific favorite song, and really discuss the background of the record, from the early stages of the production, to the thoughts and feelings behind the lyrics, and then the final product. Starting off the series is burgeoning singer/songwriter/producer Mateo.

In this edition of ThisisRnB Presents: Rhythm & Blues, Mateo breaks down his brand new single “Say It’s So” featuring Alicia Keys & Swizz Beatz. The rising star talks about the initial production to the writing and thoughts behind his lyrics.

For those of you in the L.A. area Mateo will be co-headlining an intimate show at The Roxy tonight, alongside Diddy-Dirty Money star Dawn Richard, and up and coming singer/songwriter Stacey Barthe.

VIDEO: T-PAIN – DROWNING AGAIN

T-Pain eases up on the Auto-Tune and shows a softer side in the dark video for “Drowning Again.” Back by an orchestra, Teddy P. pours his heart out at the piano as he croons the somber love song.

“Waves upon waves keep me down/ And I can’t get to the top/ But when I get there, I’ll still be nowhere ’cause I can’t find the one I love,” sings Pain, who will release his new album rEVOLVEr on December 6.

We bet you’ve never seen him like this before.

BEHIND THE SCENES: MARY J. BLIGE “25/8″ VIDEO SHOOT

Mary J. Blige takes charge on set of the video for “25/8,” the first single from her upcoming album My Life II… The Journey Continues (Act I) (Nov. 21). Filmed by director Diane Martel, the R&B veteran puts on her red boots and takes to the streets of New York City. In an additional scene, she performs choreographed moves with her troupe of male dancers while dressed in the military-inspired uniform that she rocked on “Dancing With the Stars.”

“The song ’25/8’ is about not having enough time to spend with someone,” explained Mary of the Eric Hudson production. “It’s like the ultimate love when you’re having fun, time just seems to fly.”

Go behind the scenes with MJB and look for the video’s premiere later this month.
