NEW MUSIC: OMARION & DJ DRAMA “THE AWAKENING” MIXTAPE

Omarion has followed the footsteps of his peers and joined forces with DJ Drama, for the release of his first Mixtape! The project titled “The Awakening” finds the star starting over in a sense, speaking on the free release O said,

It’s hard when you start young, to really change the perception and idea of who you are because people remember you from so much. I was opposed to doing a mixtape at first, because I’m used to presenting a product to my fans, and them buying it. But we are in such a different time now, where artists like myself, should give away free music, and that idea was, not…difficult for me to see, but Different, and really I don’t look at it as a mixtape, but I look at it as an album!

Check out Omarion’s brand new mixtape “The Awakening” below, 19 original tracks, including features from YG, Method Man, Red Cafe, Lil’ Eddie and more. Follow the jump for the track list, download link and stream.

BTS: JASON DERULO’S “DON’T WANNA GO HOME” VIDEO SHOOT

“I’m very hands on with everything that I do, and I wrote ‘Don’t Wanna Go Home,’ and I wanted to write a video right after I finished doing the song ’cause I actually saw it [in my mind], what this video is about. Basically, [it's] not about going to the club, [it's about] never leaving the club.” The clip features “these creatures who can’t get enough of this amazing party. But it’s not a club — it’s a warehouse and we live here.”
Inspired by Robin S.’ “Show Me Love,” he explains, “I wanted to write a song that people could escape their problems, their pain, their turmoil, and by doing a feel-good song, I’m doing just that. You don’t have to write a song about saving the world to do just that. We created this new age party-smasher.”

BEYONCE IS BACK TO RUN THE WORLD, TALKS NEW ALBUM, ANNOUNCES TITLE & MORE (BILLBOARD COVER STORY)

In the next chapter of her career, Beyoncé certainly seems dedicated to breaking new ground. It takes guts for one of the world’s biggest pop stars to release such a stridently unconventional single as the militaristic, beat-driven “Run the World (Girls),” built around a freaky sample from relatively obscure indie favorites Major Lazer’s club hit, “Pon de Floor.” That’s just the first salvo in the unexpected collage of sonic textures and unique song structures on her new album, which features edgy new collaborators like Switch (who makes up half of Major Lazer) along with established hitmakers like The-Dream. “There’s nothing safe about it, I know that much,” says The-Dream, who cowrote Beyoncé’s career-redefining anthem, “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It),” and was called in to help pen the new album’s lead single. “That [kind of song treatment] would never happen with any other artist of her stature, male or female.”
