First off I would like to truly thank everyone for their support of the site. We plan on bringing a lot for you in the new year. 2008 had many ups and downs, disasters and triumphs, but musically speaking only here. My News Years Resolution for the industry is, NO MORE AUTOTUNE!!!! It has been fun for a while, but it’s time to move on! And please lets use the Vocoder to a minimum also. Here is a new record by Bobby Valentino. It is titled, “Hands On Me”, produced by The Dream & Tricky Stewart. Valentino is currently gearing up to release his third studio album, The Rebirth, due out February 10th via Blue Kolla Dreams/EMI. The album is preceded by lead single, “Beep” featuring Yung Joc which is currently climbing the urban charts.

Well, not exaclty. I wouldn’t argue that this isn’t common practice in the industry, and I wouldn’t exactly compare it to the BC Jean “If I Were A Boy” situation either. But just for information sake. The ballad “Smash Into You” from Beyonce’s I Am…Sasha Fierce album was originally recorded and performed by Jon McLaughlin. According to PerezHilton.com, “The song originally called ‘Smack Into You’ was written for Jon McLaughlins sophomore album Ok Now by Tricky Stewart and The-Dream. Though, the song was later scrapped from the album, Jon did perform the song live on his summer/fall tour. Not letting an amazing song go to waste, it was presented to Beyonce and changed to ‘Smash Into You.’ Thats the part Beyonce must have ‘written’ in order to receive that coveted writing credit because the two versions are practically identical lyrically otherwise.” You can listen to the two versions below and decide for yourself….
Here is the brand new single by the legendary Dru Hill. The record is titled, “If You Fall”. It is off their comeback album, InDRUpendence Day, due out in 2009. You can also expect the InDRUpendence World Tour in 2009, and a reality TV show that will chronicle their return to the music industry.
Here is a new or unreleased record by J. Holiday. It is titled, “Fall”. Holiday is geering up for the release of his sophomore album Round 2, due out February 24th. It is preceded by lead single, “It’s Yours”, which is currently growing at radio right now.
Here is a new joint by up and coming group Metro City. The record is titled, “I’ll Front Ya”. Metro City is currently working on their A&M/Interscope debut album due out in 2009.
Here is a new or unreleased record by singer/songwriter/producer Tank. It is titled, “I Need You”. Tank is currently workin on his fourth studio album due out in 2009.
